Following the death of my wife (from cancer) and having spent several months sat on the sofa developing a far too familiar relationship with the local takeaways and off licence, I decided I needed a project to give me a focus and an aim. So a circumnavigation of Ulster was planned. It was pointed out that Ulster was not an island but I considered this a mere technicality and carried on with the planning. 6 months later, slightly leaner and fitter, I paddled out of Belfast Lough at the beginning of a 560km journey and returned 16 days later having raised over £5000 of Macmillan Cancer Support.
