What happens next?

We will contact you by email by Friday 3rd November 2023 to inform you of the outcome.  If successful, you will need to complete some pre-reading and attend a 2-hour online orientation and 2 day practical face to face orientation.

Online Orientation – Tuesday 6th February 2024 18:30 – 20:30.

Orientation – Saturday 13th – Sunday 14th April 2024 at Tollymore National Outdoor Centre. Details to follow.

The practical 2-day face-to-face orientation event is to support the development of your understanding of the course and its delivery. This is compulsory for all applicants.

During the orientation events you will be working alongside other aspirant providers and a National Trainer.

The orientation fee will be £375, or early bird price of £325. This includes both the online session and 2-day practical face-to-face orientation. This does not include food or accommodation.

Action Plan

Following the orientation events, you will have an Individual Action Plan that will include any required actions or conditions identified and further professional development as required. In most cases you will have “Aspirant Paddlesport Instructor” status and be able to second staff courses immediately. This may not be the case if you have ‘essential’ elements from your application to attend to.

Trainer Recommendation

The process is concluded with confirmation that your delivery meets required standards by a person authorised to make a final recommendation, that is then validated by CANI. This normally takes place through the observation of you delivering a Paddlesport Instructor course with a recognised provider. You are then granted the ‘full’ role and able to deliver Paddlesport Instructor courses independently.
