Some of you might be aware of an organisation called Sported who are one of the leading Sport for Development charities in the UK, supporting over 3,000 amazing community clubs and groups that use the power of sport to transform the lives of disadvantaged young people.
Sported helps community sport clubs and groups become bigger, more sustainable and more effective and is a free membership organisation that supports community sport clubs and groups across the UK that deliver Sport for Development. These amazing groups are using the power of sport to tackle the root causes of some of society’s biggest problems – crime, anti-social behaviour and obesity, to name but a few. More than that, they are giving disadvantaged young people the opportunities, confidence and support to overcome their personal hurdles and succeed in life.
They support the inspirational local heroes and heroines that run these clubs by providing free business and financial support so that they have the skills, knowledge and resources to continue their amazing work. They have a network of volunteer business mentors who work with our members on a one-to-one basis, providing expert consultancy on business issues ranging from financial planning and fundraising, to marketing and governance.
If your club or organisation works with young people you could be eligible to become a member and to one to one mentoring support. I encourage you to have a look at the website and if you would like to find out more contact the NI manager
