Lough Erne Recreational Paddle – Saturday 29th – Sunday 30th July 2017

Meet and Trip Plan:
We will meet on Saturday 29th July at Carrybridge, on Lough Erne  at 10.30am and finish at Castle Island, Enniskillen, on Sunday 30th July for around 3pm. The two day’s paddle will be relaxed and we will spend our night camping on Castle Island. On the Sunday we will go for a paddle to Devinish Island and return to Castle Island to finish.  Please bring enough food for the camping trip.

All paddles are subject to weather conditions.

Venue Description:
Fermanagh is an ideal destination for the canoeing enthusiast with its magnificent lakes of Upper and Lower Lough Erne providing a 50 kilometre expanse of water linking with the Shannon.
The Lough Erne Canoe Trail was presented the Innovation Award at the 2008 British Urban Regeneration Waterways Renaissance Awards becoming the first Northern Irish project ever to win such an award.   Lower Lough Erne and its rugged shoreline provide a vast expanse of open water where large waves can build during windy periods – an ideal venue for the experienced paddler! In stark contrast the Upper Lough provides good shelter with its maze of bays, narrow channels of slow flowing water and innumerable islands and peninsulas – offering a superb venue for the whole family.
