CANI runs talent and development programmes in 2 Olympic disciplines, Sprint and Slalom canoeing, and also Surf.
CANI aims to enable talented athletes to enter GB Canoeing programmes and go on to win Olympic Medals in Olympic canoeing disciplines.
Our vision is to create a world leading talent programme which identifies, nurtures and delivers an oversupply of talented athletes. Identifying and developing characteristics required for senior international success, within an environment committed to the pursuit of excellence and to supporting every athlete to be the best that they can be.
In 2013 discipline specific development squads were formed to provide a foundation to encourage young paddlers to embrace competitive paddling. The creation and development of a strong junior club system is essential if the talent and performance programmes are to be sustainable, the point of entry into competitive paddling activity is through clubs programmes and initiatives such as Junior Bladers. Following this introduction into competitive paddling, the next step for young athletes will be to try to achieve selection onto the squads.
