Lough Erne Recreational Paddle – Saturday 20th and Sunday 21st August 2022

This recreational paddle is suitable and open to families, clubs, paddlers of all ages and abilities and can be paddled in any type of craft. So dust down your boat and come and join us on these social paddles. If you don’t have a boat you can hire an open canoe from CANI at a reasonable cost. Appropriate paddling kit should be brought, everyone should also be self-sufficient for camping i.e.: food, stove and tent etc.

Meet and Trip Plan:

We will meet on Saturday 20th August at Trory Jetty, Enniskillen for a 10am start, then paddle to Enniskillen Castle and return to the Trory Jetty on day 1, Saturday 20th August for 3pm. You are welcome to stay and camp so please bring enough food and water for the camping trip.

Sunday 21 August we will continue our trip finishing around 3pm

All paddles are subject to weather conditions

Venue Description:

Fermanagh is an ideal destination for the canoeing enthusiast with its magnificent lakes of Upper and Lower Lough Erne providing a 50 kilometre expanse of water linking with the Shannon.
The Lough Erne Canoe Trail was presented the Innovation Award at the 2008 British Urban Regeneration Waterways Renaissance Awards becoming the first Northern Irish project ever to win such an award.   Lower Lough Erne and its rugged shoreline provide a vast expanse of open water where large waves can build during windy periods – an ideal venue for the experienced paddler! In stark contrast the Upper Lough provides good shelter with its maze of bays, narrow channels of slow flowing water and innumerable islands and peninsulas – offering a superb venue for the whole family.

If you plan to take part in more than one recreation paddle why not take out recreational membership at a cost of £18 per year or family membership at a cost of £45 full membership and £5 for each additional family member per year.
