Future Sport Northern Ireland Participation Investment Priorities 2016-2020 – ‘Everybody Active 2020’

As you may be aware, the Board of Sport Northern Ireland recently approved a policy paper which proposes a new participation intervention and investment model to replace Active Communities which expires on 31st March 2016.

The policy paper recommends continued prioritisation of women and girls, people with a disability, older people and those living in areas of high social need on the basis of their continued under-representation in sport.

The proposed intervention suggests four strands around a central theme of ‘Everybody Active’.

  1. Opportunities
  2. Workforce Development
  3. Outdoor Spaces and
  4. Small Grants

The proposal recommends an indicative investment of approximately £14m in the period 2015-2020 to support the delivery of Sport Northern Ireland’s Corporate Plan and in particular the strategic objective of Sporting Communities.

The Statutory Section 75 Consultation which is available on our website at, Sport Northern Ireland will deliver a number of public consultation workshops – details of both are on our website

In addition to these, we have also launched an online survey – responses to which close on Monday 20th July. You can find the survey here: Everybody Active 2020 Online Survey.

The survey is available in other accessible formats on request.
