Erne Paddlers’ Marathon Ranking Race 2015

Venue: Erne Paddlers on Castle Island. Accessible from either The Lakeland Forum, Enniskillen, Co Fermanagh (same as 2014 – Directions and maps can be found at www.lakelandforum.com BT74 7BA). Or from the opposite bank – Stuarts Car Park, Sligo Road, Enniskillen. Major riverbank construction work ongoing around The Forum and we still don’t know which side we’ll be accessing The Island from – watch this space.
Course: Deep calm waters of Lough Erne with mostly natural reeded banks. Courses consist of 5km laps – top turn around buoys, bottom turn around the bottom of the island. Portage on the island prior to the bottom turn (end) of each lap excluding the lap you finish on. Water suitable for understern rudders, however, shallows may be found along the banks. Cruisers may be on the course.
5km – 1 lap/0 portage
10km – 2 laps/1 portage
15km – 3 laps/2 portages
20km – 4 laps/3 portages
Timings:
Entries open: 0930
Entries Close: 1100
Briefing: 1145
Starts: 1200
Prize Giving: As soon as possible once racing has finished
Fees: £10 senior / £5 junior – per person per race.
Children: Unfortunately we cannot hold a novice race this year.
Safety: Race briefing is required for all competitors – your own responsibility to attend. Rules of navigation must be adhered to. ICU safety rules apply. Neither the organisers nor the CANI/BCU/ICU accept responsibility for any damage or loss to persons or equipment.
