Open to all interested in developing first
aid skills and also certified by Rescue and Emergency Care so meets the
criteria for NGB awards such as Paddlesport Instructor and Coach award. This
course needs to be confirmed 2 weeks in advance or it won’t run. Please
register for this and we will hold a waiting list.

Core NI Fundamentals Training

A fun introduction to the use of
games to develop fundamental skills for strength and conditioning / warm ups.
Our coaches have attended these workshops previously and found them really
fun and useful for CPD and development in coaching sessions.

 

This is suitable for all coaches,
leaders, assistants and paddlers who want to help set up fun games on
sessions.

 

Open to all; Erne Paddlers, CANI
and other club members and non-members alike.

Like our “Love to Paddle” trips,
these will be enjoyable, social paddles for those that like to get their
exercise on the water, while taking in the great views from our blueways. Run
by our experienced, qualified and friendly coaches, these will be guided
trips with coaching as needed, including advice on efficient paddling and
paddling for fitness. Suitable for those who have completed a “Learn to
Paddle” course or have already done a little bit of paddling. All paddling
equipment (except clothes/wetsuits) provided.

£9 discounted price for each trip, £17 for
two family members, £ 25 for three.

Leader
development course

 

 

Lakeland
Forum Canoe Steps

Returns April 2019

 

Early weekday eves to suit after school and
work.

This is a development programme
for young people (16+) and adults, who enjoy their paddling and want to build
skills and experience, so they can help on club activities, log volunteering
hours (UCAS points) and gain internationally recognised vocational canoeing
qualifications.

 

Including skills, safety and
rescue coaching towards personal paddling awards and the prerequisites for
internationally recognised leadership and coaching qualifications and an
introduction to leadership and coaching theory and practice. Coached and
mentored by our well qualified and experienced coach educator.

 

Coaching qualification
pre-requisite courses; FSRT (safety and rescue), First Aid, Safeguarding, etc
will be organized to suit the availability of the participants in preparation
for Paddlesport Leader and Instructor courses in the Autumn.

 

We have a small cohort already
working towards their first qualifications and we welcome more people to join

Polo
in the Pool

Polo is super fun
team sport, like basketball in kayaks!
It’s a fantastic way to improve your confidence and skills and is coached in
a fun progressive way by our qualified, friendly and experienced coaches.
We provide all the equipment needed (except wetsuits).
This is for 14yrs+ paddlers with previous experience of playing polo.

Rolling Course

In the Pool

 

Lakeland Forum

Thursdays

9 to 10:45 PM

(1 hour in the pool)

 

Dates:

7, 14, 21, 28th March

(4 weeks)

 

 

 

Similar to your previous Rolling Clinic this
course will be a 1-on-1 Coaching session for the Kayak Roll. This course will
look at the fundamentals of the roll and how to consolidate the techniques
into a fluid kayak roll and give you the tools to go off and practice
personally in your own time as well.

 

The course will take place in the Lakeland
forum Pool which is the perfect place to learn the roll with a warm relaxed
atmosphere, clear water and an attentive coach to guide and help you progress
through any problems that arise.

 

This course is aimed at anyone who has an
interest in rolling from beginner to advanced paddlers looking to consolidate
a roll or learn a new roll. Participants must be spray deck confident and
have already done a bit of paddling as well as being comfortable with
capsizing.

 

All equipment and pool hire is included in
the price; suitable Pool gear to wear must be brought along.

This is part of our EP+ programme – an add-on
to our normal club programme which is run by volunteers. For EP+ we buy in
coaches to help meet demand. We still subsidise the price, but we can’t keep

Fun and games for all the family!

Coached by our friendly, experienced and
qualified coaches, in a safe and progressive way using a range of “games with
aims” – you’ll be having so much fun, you won’t even know you are learning 🙂

Including Paddle-Power coaching and
certificates (small fee for books if they don’t already have them).

Best for children and parents with some
experience already, e.g. having completed a “Learn to Paddle” course or
similar or more. Individual children and adults welcome. All paddling kit
(except clothing/wetsuits) can be provided.

This is open to all paddlers, EP
members, CANI and other club members and non-members alike.

 

A fun and progressive intro to
rivers, suitable for for first time river paddlers and those wishing to
progress their skills on easy “moderate water”.

Participants should be between 10

kit. We can supply, kayak, deck, paddles, helmet and buoyancy aid.

For the Adult Afternoon Course

Participants should be over 14
years old (see our 10-14’s course on the same dates, in the mornings here:).

the BallyConnell and the second two weeks will move on to the Lennan.

Surf Skills course

This course is suitable for those
with flat water skills looking to move up to the surf environment – must be
spraydeck confident.

 

Surfing is one of our greatest
resources and this course is lead by internationally recognised surf coach
Marty McCann! So don’t delay booking as spaces are limited.

 

You can book onto both sessions
(for discount) or just a single session if you prefer.

 

Two courses willrun – one in the
morning at 10am and one in the afternoon at 2pm.

FURTHER INFORMATION

Courses open to the public
All our courses are open to the public. “Learn to Paddle” courses are
especially geared towards beginners and those wanting to join the club. Other
courses require some previous experience, either just a little (so we know
you are ok to go on an easy journey) or a bit more for; sea, surf and river
sessions for example. Pre-requisites (if any) are listed in the course
information above. If you want help choosing the right course for you, get in
touch with us at the contact info below.

 

Membership

Non-members can paddle with the
club up to four times before membership is required (for insurance purposes).
For beginners on one of our “Learn to Paddle” courses, discounted membership
is included in the course price.  For those with previous paddling experience
wanting to join in on other activities on a regular basis, please contact
email@ernepaddlers.org.uk
