Decathlon birthday party
This weekend saw a 2 day event for the celebration of the Decathlon’s store first birthday. To assist in their celebrations we joined in a fun day on Saturday and Sunday down at the store. For those of you who came down you will know what a great birthday party it was too ! For those of you who didn’t attend you missed a great chance to try out canoeing in the outdoor pool we brought along with us! Even the weather held out for us on the Saturday allowing lots of people to get involved and lots of fun to be had. Our coaches got stuck in and joined in the water-fun providing instruction and giving a chance for a high number of young people to experience one of the fastest growing sports within Northern Ireland. Lots of people wanting to get involved in the sport came down and we directed them to their local club for them to carry on the fun. A little bit of a wash-out on Sunday meant the participants really had to get stuck in but we smiled in the face of the bad weather and powered through until it forced us to pack up.
We had lots of support from local clubs including Belfast Kayak Club, Lisburn City Paddlers, Mid Ulster Canoe and Kayak Club, Ulster Canoe polo and C3 Canoe Club. These clubs provided us with volunteers in the way of coaches to get the young people involved, and so we couldn’t have done it without you! Sport Ni also provided us with some equipment for the day so big thanks to them too.
All in all it was a great weekend and we thoroughly enjoyed celebrating wit Decathlon – so thanks for the invite ! Anybody who didn’t manage to come down this time, don’t worry, our next event is clubfest on the 24th to the 26th June at the Share Centre – last week for bookings !
