Portmuck Paddle and BBQ – Sat 1st June 2019
All paddlers are welcome to join us at County Antrim Yacht Club for our
annual trip to Portmuck. This is not best suited for complete novices as the trip involves a distance of approximately 6 – 7 miles.
Provided conditions are favourable on the day it gives the opportunity to view the spectacular Gobbins cliffs along with abundant bird life on the way. There will be ample time for a stop off for brunch and to stretch the legs before the final push to the destination.
We will have a BBQ and refreshments available for our kayakers.
Note: This is normally a one way paddle. We tend to leave a few vehicles parked at Portmuck for road transportation back to Whitehead, though if preferred there may be paddlers who may wish to return by the water.
The paddle will start at 10.00am and is open to over 9 year olds and is a disability friendly paddle until around 16.00pm.
All paddlers wishing to participate should arrange their own kit and kayak as County Antrim do not own any craft for loan or hire with the exception of a few boats. Also it is the responsibility of individuals to provide their own food/ refreshments for a short break on route.
