Canoe Polo is unlike any other paddle sport, it is a game of two halves of 10 minutes where two teams of five players battle it out with a water polo ball.
The aim is to score into a goal which is suspended above the water at each end of the pitch, participants speed the length of the pool, weaving through their opponents lines of defence and spinning in their boats to receive passes. It makes for a fast and thrilling event and is a great spectator sport as it takes place in a confined area.
Matches are controlled by referees and the fast, explosive action from the players encompasses a wide range of canoeing skills, teamwork, tactics and the ability to throw and catch.
