British Canoeing acknowledges the findings and the recommendations published today by the Marine Accident Investigation Branch (MAIB), in regards to the fatal incident on the River Cleddau, near Haverfordwest on 30 October 2021.
British Canoeing has fully supported MAIB throughout their investigation. We will continue to work with the relevant organisations to ensure that we can all improve safety measures and education for stand-up-paddleboarding, in order to prevent such an incident occurring again.
Our deepest sympathies and thoughts remain with the family members and friends of those who were involved in this tragic incident.
