British Canoeing have put together a short film on the ‘Mental Health Benefits of Canoeing and Kayaking’ for their ‘Time to Talk’ initiative in February.
Within the clip there are comments from a range of paddlers from all over the country. They talk about how canoeing and kayaking have helped them through difficult stages in their life and how it has a positive impact on their mental health and well being.
“Sometimes you have those bad pain days when you don’t want to leave the house……Kayaking enables me to think: “I have something that I can do that I am good at.” -BELLE
“That evidence that it’s not just physical exercise but when you are in or near the water and you’re exercising, it actual helps your mental health as well.” -ADRIAN
“Being retired I find that it’s just something that I look forward to.” -DAVID
