So you’ve taught those beginner paddlers everything you know, now what?
A moderate water award could be exactly what you need. If you enjoy introducing others to more advanced environments then this could be the award for you.
As a BCU Moderate Water Endorsed Level 2 coach you’re able to take your coaching abilities into specific moderate water environments. This award is available for those who wish to coach sea kayaking, surf kayaking, open canoeing, touring and white water kayaking. It focuses on the application of current coaching knowledge in the moderate water environment and covers topics such as:
- how to coach discipline-specific skills and tactics
- physiological and psychological considerations for the discipline
- establishing a safe coaching environment
- developing paddlers’ performance
The White Water endorsement would enable you to coach on rivers such as the Bann or Owenkillew. The Sea endorsement would enable you to coach in moderate tidal water/sea with a maximum of 2 knot tides and winds not exceeding force 4.
