Since 2013

What motivated you to begin performance canoeing/kayaking?

Initially I just started out messing around in the surf but once I saw the older guys surf I was determined to be able to surf like them and decided I would go along to the Surf Come and Try It Day.

What is your main discipline?

Surf Kayaking

Which club are you a member of?

Broighter Paddlers

Who is your coach?

My main coach is Marty McCann and Gerry McGlinchey helps a lot too.

What are your greatest achievements thus far?

1st Ladies HP – European Championship 2014

4th Junior HP – European Championship 2014

5th Ladies IC – World Championship 2015

What do you hope to achieve in the future?

One day I hope to win the World Championships in either the Ladies or Junior categories but I also want to get more girls involved in the sport and make the sport bigger and better known.

Who has been the greatest influence in your career?

I’d have to say my dad for the encouragement from the sidelines and taking the time to travel to different competitions and training locations.

When you’re not canoeing/kayaking what do you like to do in your spare time?

I don’t have that much at the moment as most of the rest is spent preparing for GCSE’s however I enjoy going running when I have some spare time.

Do you have any superstitions before you compete?

No, I always try to clear my mind before I head out on the water.

Who is your most admired sports person?

I can’t pick one, I admire a lot of competitors and try to take different aspects of everyone’s surfing and apply it to my own.

What, if any injuries have you sustained?

Nothing serious, just the usual bumps and bruises thankfully.
