Outdoor Recreation NI and Canoe Association Northern Ireland are delighted to be able to offer the British Canoeing Paddle-Ability Foundation module again this year. It is an excellent opportunity for individuals within Northern Ireland to take part in this new recognised British Canoeing accredited course that provides an introduction to teaching individuals with disabilities essential canoe skills.
Paddle-Ability Foundation Module
• Establish basic communication skills and apply basic coaching skills with people with disabilities
• Selection & modification of equipment
• Health & Safety
• Use of appropriate terminology
• Range of disabilities that can be encountered
• Foundation module is classroom-based
Where and When:
Belfast Activity Centre, Saturday 14th March 2015, 10am to 1pm
Who is it for:
Any paddlers with an interest in teaching people with disabilities.
The full course has 2 parts, Foundation and Intermediate. The 3 hour module on 14th March covers the Foundation part, and earns a certificate in its own right. The Intermediate module is a practical, outdoor-based course, which will be delivered this October and will be charged and certificated separately.
Qualified coaches (Level 1 or above) will receive a British Canoeing CPD certificate
Unqualified individuals will receive a certificate of attendance
£15 for CANI or BCU members
£20 for non-members
