CANI invite you to the first Annual General Meeting of the new Canoe Association of Northern Ireland Ltd on the 20th May. Mid 2016 CANI completed the process of changing from an association to a limited company with charitable status. To mark this milestone and change in the company the CANI Board would like you to come to the AGM at Belfast Boat Club at 4.30pm.
Like you, we prefer to be on the water than in a meeting room so we are having a paddle beforehand and we invite you to join the Board members and staff team. We are are meeting at Shaw’s Bridge at 12.30 for a paddle down the Lagan to the Belfast Boat club at the Stranmillis Weir. This is a short but nice paddle so we hope you join us.
The CANI Board is the body that is responsible for the strategic direction and oversees the operational activity of all CANI activity. As this year is the first meeting of the new company eight members of the board will retire, there are two independent directors on the Board who will be nominated by the board for ratification at the AGM. Half of those elected will serve for a two-year period from 2017-2019, the other half will serve a one-year period until 2018, and will meet on average once per month. If you have skills that you feel are beneficial for CANI please put yourself forward for election. It is important that CANI has a Board that has a variety of experiences to ensure the future growth and success of the organisation.
The AGM will be held at the Belfast Boat Club and will start at 4.30pm. Tea and coffee will be served on arrival.
