Blackwater Recreational Paddle 14th Oct 2017

Blackwater Recreational Paddle – Saturday 14th and Sunday 15th October

The Ulster Canoe Club led the October CANI Rec paddle on the river Blackwater. Meeting at Blackwatertown to set up early on an overcast Autumn morning.
Almost 40 people were on the water to make the trip down to Moy for a lunch stop, that broke up the journey very nicely. We were then back on the water and headed down past the National trust site at the Argory.
A lovely paddle concluded for most at the slipway at Bonds Bridge with 15 heading on further to the CANI campsite downstream to spend a night together camping and socialising.
On the Sunday morning with spirits very high and the winds swirling we headed off with the winds on our back to Maghery.
This was a wonderful trip to see what the Blackwater has to offer from start to finish and the scenery was superb with the Autumn backdrop adding colour and character to the trip throughout.
The facilities at the campsite add to a great journey enabling for the trip to be split up over the 2 days.
