Afton Awarded Greeves Trophy

 

Afton Fitzhenry has been awarded with the Greeves Trophy, an annual award, which is given to a competitor who shows the most progression, personal preparation, sportsmanship, effort and contribution to the sport.

Afton, who grew up in Lisburn, Co. Antrim was inspired to try for the CANI performance squad, after canoeing at a ‘try it’ day, two years later she was selected to take part in the Girls 4 Gold program and has been a member of the GB sprint kayak programme since then.

Afton’s best result was 4th place in the C2 200m U23 2017 European championships in Belgrade, and her most recent success was during the U23 World Sprint Kayak Championships, when Afton and her Team Mate- Beth Gill produced brilliant results coming 8th in the C2 500m, and 7th in the C2 200m.

Now living in Nottingham, Afton is aiming for selection for Tokyo 2020
